The Chief Operating Officer (COO) ensures that all operational systems — infrastructure, logistics, safety, compliance, and resources — function as an integrated, reliable backbone for production.
The COO’s mission is to create operational stability, enabling the Chief Production Officer (CPO) and production teams to work safely, predictably, and efficiently.
The role bridges strategic oversight and daily execution, connecting Supply Chain, Facility Management, Utilities & Energy, HSE, Legal, and Finance into a single operational ecosystem.
Requirements
Education:
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or Industrial Management.
Experience:
- 10+ years in operations or plant management, including infrastructure, logistics, and HSE.
- Proven experience integrating multi-functional operational systems.
- Background in defense, aerospace, oil, or chemical manufacturing preferred.
- Strong financial and compliance understanding.
Skills:
- System thinking and operational excellence.

- Advanced understanding of ERP, MES, and ISO frameworks.

Core Responsibilities
1. Operational System Integration
- Lead and synchronize all enabling functions (Supply Chain, Facilities, HSE, Legal, Finance).
- Integrate ERP, MES, and Finance systems for real-time operational transparency.
- Balance production capacity, resources, and delivery commitments.
- Build and document governance processes for operations, risk, and decision-making.
2. Supply Chain Management
- Oversee procurement, logistics, warehousing, and material readiness.
- Ensure full compliance with defense export/import laws and supplier reliability.
- Monitor OTD, cost efficiency, and stock turnover KPIs.
- Support Procurement and Logistics in long-term supplier development.
3. Site Operations & Infrastructure
- Supervise Facility, Utilities & Energy, and Administrative Services teams.
- Ensure continuous operation of critical systems (electricity, gas, HVAC, water).
- Manage CAPEX/OPEX budgets for infrastructure maintenance and expansion.
- Oversee construction projects, maintenance contracts, and facility upgrades.
4. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Ensure compliance with ISO 45001, AQAP, and Danish/EU safety regulations.
- Oversee site-wide risk assessments, training, and incident management.
- Cultivate a zero-incident culture in high-risk production zones.
- Supervise fire protection, chemical safety, and emergency preparedness.
5. Legal, Compliance & Finance Coordination
- Coordinate with Legal on supplier contracts, insurance, and regulatory compliance.
- Support Finance in budgeting, audit preparation, and cost control.
- Ensure that all operational contracts and purchases align with compliance and audit requirements.
- Oversee document retention and reporting for defense industry standards.
6. IT & Automation
- Supervise the IT & Automation Manager, ensuring stable, secure, and efficient operation of all IT systems.
- Oversee infrastructure, hardware inventory, and user support, guaranteeing reliable access to digital tools.
- Ensure seamless integration of ERP, BI, and automation systems across Finance, Supply Chain, HR, and Production.
- Coordinate cybersecurity and data protection policies together with the Security Officer, ensuring ISO/NIS2 compliance.
- Approve IT budgets and major digital investments (CAPEX/OPEX).
- Drive digital transformation initiatives and process automation to improve operational efficiency.
- Manage external IT vendors and ensure SLA compliance and cost control.
7. Continuous Improvement & Governance
- Drive cross-functional efficiency, cost optimization, and process standardization.
- Establish operational governance routines (risk reviews, monthly ops board).
- Ensure structured communication between C-level functions and operations.
- Champion LEAN, PDCA, and continuous improvement practices across departments.
