Domain Architect (Fintech/Retail Channels)

Position Purpose:

To ensure the design, implementation, and evolution of the target IT architecture for the bank’s retail channels, as well as to develop strategic roadmaps and design standards that enable an end-to-end customer experience — aligned with the bank’s business strategy and platform-driven development principles.

You will become the key link transforming ambitious business visions (e.g., leadership in digital banking or enhanced in-branch customer experience) into a clear technology strategy and architectural principles.

This role is designed for a leader-level architect ready to drive the technological evolution of the country’s largest bank within the retail domain.

You will not simply design systems — you will build the foundation for instant mobile lending, software updates across thousands of ATMs, and AI integration into daily operations. We expect you to drive the transition from “products” to “platforms,” ensuring faster Time-to-Market for new features.

Your Key Challenges & Impact:

● Stakeholder Management

Act as a strategic advisor to retail business leaders. Confidently communicate architectural decisions to C-level executives and defend the technology development vector.

Translate ambiguous business strategies into concrete technical roadmaps and architectural initiatives.

● Cross-Domain Collaboration

Work closely with the Enterprise Architect to ensure seamless integration of retail channels with Security, Payments, and Core Banking domains.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Architecture Strategy & Design

● AI & Cloud First

Develop and manage a multi-year roadmap prioritizing AI implementation and cloud transformation.

● Platform Engineering

Lead the shift from isolated applications to scalable Shared Services platforms: unified identity services, centralized notification systems, and unified data layers.

● Modernization & Decommissioning

Manage system lifecycle, including legacy system decommissioning strategies.

● Cross-Domain Integration

Ensure integration with Core Banking, Data, and Payments domains.

2. Technology Leadership & Standards

● Architectural Oversight

Guide project teams to ensure that every new mobile feature or ATM software update complies with corporate standards and the target architecture.

● Vendor Management

Participate in RFP processes, evaluating third-party solutions for security and architectural compliance.

● Engineering Efficiency

Define reusable design patterns and shared components (APIs, authentication services) to accelerate Time-to-Market.

● Stakeholder Advisory

Act as a trusted advisor to Product Owners, assessing technical feasibility of business initiatives.

● Investment Planning

Develop business cases for architectural initiatives and prioritize domain-level investments.

Reliability, Security & Non-Functional Requirements:

● Ensure Resilience

Design highly available (24/7) and scalable systems in Cloud/Hybrid environments.

● Protect Data

Implement modern authorization protocols and security mechanisms (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, tokenization, encryption standards) to ensure maximum protection of client operations.

3. Risk & Compliance

● Maintain High Compliance Standards

Identify operational risks in a timely manner, ensure personal data protection, and comply with internal bank policies.

Key Requirements:

• Higher education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields
• 10+ years of IT experience, including 5+ years in architectural roles within large organizations (Fintech or banking experience is a strong advantage)
• Advanced proficiency in software architecture: defining internal application structures, selecting tech stacks, and working closely with engineering teams to translate architectural decisions into high-quality code
• Deep knowledge of Microservices, Event-Driven Architecture (EDA), API Gateways, Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Experience managing technical debt and legacy modernization strategies
• Retail domain expertise: understanding of Mobile Apps, ATM software, and branch service systems
• Proven track record designing and managing high-load, secure architectures
• Strong security knowledge (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, PCI DSS)
• Experience presenting and negotiating at executive level
• Knowledge of enterprise architecture methodologies (TOGAF, CITA)
• Understanding of Agile/DevOps practices: architectural leadership in Scrum/Kanban environments, CI/CD and test automation advocacy
• Professional Ukrainian language proficiency; ability to explain complex technical concepts in business-value terms
• English level Upper-Intermediate (B2+) for ongoing communication with direct manager and partners
